Eminem/Shady/MMLP2

This is going to be a long one.

Eminem. Everyone wondered if Slim Shady would be back after Em came out of rehab and was serious Eminem. But tonight, two VMA promos, announcing his next album, Marshall Mathers LP 2, dropping November 5th.

What does this have to do with Slim? The second promo was a 30 second long one, a music video teaser, to a new song, Berserk.(Or Berzerk, not sure how to spell it yet.) and in the video is Em, but with bleached hair, aka, Slim Shady. Yes you read correct, zero typos.Shady's Back.

I feel this is a great move by Em, Slim, because everyone wanted Slim Shady back. And we got him.

It is 2AM as I write this, so the date is Monday, August 26th, 2013. And his first single off his new album MMLP2 comes tomorrow, the 27th. Album comes November 5th. Too much to consume. I have been nonstop talking about the song, album release date, album name, blonde Eminem, and the return of Slim Shady, for five hours straight now.

Is funny Em back? Slim Shady sure is, I don't care, if Eminem is blonde, part of him is definitely Slim. Maybe MMLP2 will have songs, plural, making fun of everybody in today's news. Hopefully his videos don't disappoint either. Let's just say, let's hope that everything about the Marshall Mathers LP Eminem/Slim - Curtain Call Eminem/Slim is back, minus the drug addiction. I'd rather have a healthy Eminem making albums like Recovery, than a drugged up Slim Shady, 40 minutes away from death again.

Kendrick Lamar in "Control"

If you haven't heard the song Control, by Big Sean ft Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica, I suggest listening. It'll be easier to understand this article.(http://youtu.be/FPxXcQ77DDM)

Listened yet? Good.

Good song, but something stood out, right? Maybe Kendrick Lamar's verse, maybe him calling out multiple other rappers, saying he hopes their careers go down the tubes basically, saying he's better and everything. Here's a reminder of what was said.

He calls out many big names in the rap game right now. People he's collaborated with, Big Sean in his own song right here.

But is it THAT big a deal? Listening to it at first I was shocked, confused, puzzled like crazy. But thought to myself, wait, every rapper says this. Every rapper wants to be the best, wants to be up on top over everyone else. Only, thing is, Kendrick had the balls to use names. Rappers all say things like "I'm the best over the rest I'ma murder y'all and watch you fall." (I made that up, but it's basically what they say.) Kendrick said what every rapper says, but with names. Every rapper wants to be the best in the rap game.

In the rap game, Kendrick may want to murder everyone. Outside of that, though, I'm sure they all understand he's just saying he wants to be best. I doubt in real life he wants to murder everyone. He was honestly saying nothing wrong or bad, just saying he wants to be best, like every rapper does, every athlete does, every singer does.

This story and song have been too hyped for me to not address it. This is my opinion and I'm pretty sure it's completely accurate and my thoughts of Kendrick's reasoning are actually his reasoning.

Does it really matter?

Everyone listens to their own music. But people are judged for it. I'm white and love rap music, it's 95% of what I listen to. And all the time from so many people all I hear is "he thinks he's black" "he wants to be black" "why are you listening to that black crap."

This shouldn't happen. No, I don't think in black, I know I'm white, I'm not attempting to be black. Rap is music, it's made for a reason, for people to like. And I like it.

I can't stand that people get picked on and judged simply for what they listen to. People can listen to whatever they want. They are themselves for a reason, no need to have opinions for what someone puts in their ears.

If someone listens to rap, regardless of race, there's no reason they can't. They like it. Doesn't mean they're trying to be black, it's just what they like. This statement goes for every other type of music.

I hate country, most country. But if someone likes it good for them they can like it if they want. They can live in Detroit and like country for all I care. Rock music that is all screaming may not be considered music sometimes but if its what someone enjoys, it doesn't mean they're depressed or cut themselves. Different people like different things.

Rap music is the only music where if someone not black listens to it, apparently they "want to be black." Which is not true at all. It's just what is liked by some people. Because someone likes country doesn't mean they want to be a cowboy, because someone likes hard rock music doesn't mean they are a dark person. Music is meant to be liked and is allowed to be liked by anyone no matter what. And it annoys me so bad that people are judged for what they listen to. They aren't making you listen, so keep quit. It isn't a big deal at all.
